Healthy Little Tips

Hello byooootiful!

Phew, yesterday and the day before were preeeetty busy, but i'll save that to another post. Today I shall be talking about "Healthy Eating".
Eurgh, i hear you exclaim.
But fear not, i'm not telling you all to go out and eat celery, I'm just sort of putting a couple things ON THE TABLE, just easy little changes.

First of all, i want to say I am NOT a nutrisionist - it would be a cool job, but I am just a teenage girl who is into food and health.
I am also a "vegan" or lacto-ovo vegetarian or something, i eat free range eggs and honey but the rest of my diet is vegan - and i am SO happy i became that. Not only do I feel more kind to animals, but I have also discovered SO many different foods! I used to be such a fuss pot and now i even eat MUSHROOMS. Okay, only if they're sort of really mixed into things, but anyway I'm just saying I have a MUCH wider taste "plate". Tofu cake, black bean burgers, soya yogurt on sweet potatoes, all these things I would never even dream of eating.

1. 1:2 ratio
I may be making this up, but when I got into healthy things (believe me, I am DEFINITELY not the healthiest person. I just ate a brownie and yesterday my diet consisted of victoria sponges (vegan ones)) i saw all these pictures of yummy "junk" foods with fruits, and I thought oh that's cool!
So by this, I mean have 1 "treat" (though see step 2) and two healthy things. A brownie, a glass of orange juice and a banana. Chips, side salad and a veggie burger.

2. Have your cake and NOM IT ALL UP
This doesn't apply to JUST people who want to lose weight, but if you are obsessed with baking (like myself), or obsessed with cake (like myself) then maaaybe sub somethings. Instead of butter, use margarine (or even better, soy marg), and you know what? On the internet there are THOUSANDS of delicious everyday healthy baking recipes. Of course for special occasions a nice big buttery cake is yummy, but for more everyday things I prefer to bake with oil and wholewheat flour, etc.

3. Hide the veg
Personally, I love raw veggies, but  i know it's not everyones cup of tea which is fine! But vegetables are sooo essential in our diets, so if you do struggle eating it - hide it!
Sorted Food have a fantastic hidden veg pasta bake recipe, but you can also make delicious soup, pasta sauces even smoothies that hide your veg, but taste delicious.

4. Start your day with some sunshine
Breakfast is, oh my days, SO IMPORTANT.
How can people skip it? I wake up and seriously if I don't eat fruit and something wholegrainy, I get pretty angry.
Juice (NOT from concentrate, make sure it's one hundret percent with no added sugar) is a great way of slipping in a nice portion of fruit, as I know you sort of can't be bothered to eat fruit in the morning. Then add some yummy carb. Porridge, muesli with milk, muesli with yogurt, cereal, wholegrain toast with soy butter/margarine and honey, all those sort of things!

I think they are my main tips, so I hope you enjoyed!

Like I said, this isn't just for people who want to drop a few pounds, this is for everyone who wants to just live a bit of a healthier lifestyle, but remember it's not the end of the world if you don't eat really healthy all the time! Have fun with your food, and enjoy it!

I hope you enjoyed :)

  3. I was really considering going vegan but I found it so hard, my issue was living in a shared house where we share food and MILK in my tea - esp at work. So I sacked it off, haha. I am so fickle.

  4. I really like your ideas :) the only thing is margarine has trans fat in it which is bad for you. It may be low in certain fat but it still has these horrible transfats in it. But I love the 2:1 idea :) <3 xx
