Hello all!
So i'm sort of carrying on my last post's topic.
I'm a "vegan" - okay i'm not really because I am okay with eating eggs as all are free range here, and i'm still looking into honey (not sure if i want to, but don't they just make it naturally?) but I basically don't eat meat (been a vegetarian for nearly 11 years) or any milk produce.
Something I get a LOT is "you don't eat enough protein or calcium! You're gonna be weak and get rickets!" and then i tell them all these things and they walk away saying i know nothing and they know EVERYTHING.
That really annoys me.
Oh I should also just say I'm not trying to hate or be offensive, this is just for the vegans who want to know or my dad who worries I shall get rickets.
CALCIUM.
Calcium is essential throughout your life; it helps build strong bones and teeth and may help lower blood pressure.
Did you know that a glass of regular milk has around 306mg of calcium? Well,
120g of almonds has the same amount.
Tofu, fortified soya milk, almond milk, rice milk, soya yogurt, brown bread, dark leafy greens, chickpeas, brocolli, figs, oranges, the list goes on!
So many people are SO one minded about calcium! You don't just have to eat cheese and milk to get enough calcium! Calcium is found in much healthier, cheeper and even more natural products!
On the NHS they actually suggest eating soya beans and leafy greens (that rhymes) not to mention the rest. Yes, milk is healthy, but too much isn't, as lots is choc-a-pocked with cholesterol, and, not to scare, but too much consumption of it sometimes has lead to disease.
There's more I could write about it but i'll probably just get more angry heheh.
Anywho, i shall pop off now!
Esh
